As a Program Manager in Reboot’s Africa office, Yop leads teams to design and implement programs and strategies based on in-depth research and user-centered approaches. A skilled cross-cultural communicator and multi-stakeholder facilitator, she has helped shape over USD 400 million of progressive philanthropic investment in West and East Africa.
A media expert and broadcast journalist, Yop has over 20 years of experience delivering civic media programs across Nigeria. She has trained and managed dozens of on air presenters across Nigeria, working with such media houses as Silverbird’s Rhythm FM in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Jos; Liberty Radio in Kaduna; Joy FM in Benue; Progress Radio in Gombe; and Cool FM, Wazobia FM, and Nigeria Info FM in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
As a pioneer staff member at Nigeria Info FM, Yop was responsible for designing and producing programs that helped shape the format of the first talk station in Nigeria. She has developed and anchored numerous award-winning radio programs on topics including education, civic engagement, children’s rights, and women’s empowerment.
Born in Plateau state and raised in Zaria, Yop has lived and traveled extensively across Nigeria and other parts of Africa. A graduate of the University of Jos, Yop has a degree in History. She speaks Hausa, Berom, and a bit of French. She enjoys philosophical conversations—even late into the night if the topic is stimulating enough. She has two beautiful children, Stephen and Maya.
